There's no getting around it. Unless treated with a protective coating, silver has an inherent tendency to oxidize and discolor. It doesn't discolor quite as rapidly if stored in plastic bags with anti-tarnish paper, but when stored on a display in open air, it will begin it's journey toward oxidation in almost no time. Having made jewelry for over twenty-five years, I've accumulated a good-sized collection that would take countless hours to clean by hand. A quick run through the tumbler with a drop of dish detergent made this handful of jewelry sparkle and gleam in no time!
